Whitpain United Travel Softball

10U through 16U travel softball program for the girls of Montgomery County, PA

About Our Program

Whitpain United was founded on the belief that unity is a softball team’s greatest strength – driving perseverance and collective growth. Our motto, ‘Only as strong as we are united,’ embodies our commitment to creating a culture where every player is valued and supported. It's the heartbeat that propels us forward, uniting individuals into teams capable of overcoming challenges and reaching new heights.

Though we may be new to the travel scene, that’s exactly what sets us apart. We are not here just for the wins; we are here to foster a passion for playing together and staying together. For more information, contact our program chair A.J. Russo.

Our Core Values

NURTURE SELF-CONFIDENCE

We believe in nurturing self-confidence, fostering camaraderie, and creating a close-knit community within our teams. Our goal is for players to not just excel on the field, but also to develop as well-rounded individuals with a determination to succeed together.

EMBRACE MULTI-SPORT ATHLETES

We understand the busy lives of teenagers, as well as the value that embracing multiple sports and interests brings. As such, our program is designed to accommodate diverse schedules, allowing players to pursue other passions alongside softball. While we encourage this exploration, we do ask United players to prioritize team commitments should a conflict arise.

PRIORITIZE AFFORDABILITY

We are committed to making the sport of travel softball more accessible. By managing our tournament schedule efficiently, we keep our program budget-friendly, while maintaining high-quality coaching and support.

What to Expect

Whitpain United travel softball teams operate 10 months out of the year. Before attending tryouts, it's good to have an understanding of the required commitment. To assist, a basic overview is provided below.

TRYOUTS

  • United rosters are composed of 12 to 13 players.
  • Rosters are filled using tryouts that occur in the summer.
  • Tryouts occur at Wentz Run Park in Blue Bell, PA.
  • Participants are required to register in advance.
  • Two tryout dates will be offered for each division, with participants required to attend a minimum of one.
  • Tryouts are typically 90 to 120 minutes depending on the volume of players being evaluated.
  • Catchers are asked to bring their own gear.

10U & 12U COMMITMENT

  • Late August – October: Families should expect two events per week, including one weeknight practice and one Sunday practice or a Sunday scrimmage / round robin. Fall play concludes with a Halloween travel tournament.
  • January – March: Families should expect one indoor practice per week. Pitchers are optionally given access to a pitching coach.
  • Late March – Late June: Families should expect two events per week, including one weeknight practice and one Sunday practice or a Sunday scrimmage / round robin. Spring play concludes with 2 to 3 travel tournaments scheduled between mid May and late June.
  • Tournament locations are typically within a 90-minute drive time.
