Intramural Basketball
Indoor winter basketball program for boys and girls grades 1 to 12
About the Program
The Whitpain Recreation Association offers fun and competitive intramural basketball for boys and girls. Divisions are based on grade level with each division having its own commissioner and its own rules to accommodate the age and skill level of players.
When registering, coach and friend requests will not be honored, but sibling pairings will be, as the creation of fair and balanced teams is a main objective each season. For questions or assistance, contact committee chairperson Tedge Lee.
Instructional Divisions
For 1st and 2nd graders, teams in our Boys and Girls Instructional Division meet once per weekend for 30 minutes of skills training followed by a game. Boys teams meet on Saturdays or Sundays. Girls teams meet on Sundays.
Teams are comprised of approximately 10-12 players. Divisional play begins in January and runs until early March.

Available divisions include:
- Boys 3rd and 4th Grade
- Boys 5th Grade
- Boys 6th and 7th Grade
- Boys 8th and 9th Grade
- Boys 10th through 12th Grade
- Girls 3rd and 4th Grade
- Girls 5th and 6th Grade
- Girls 7th through 9th Grade
Intramural divisions for Grades 3 through 9 hold two activities per week with one weekday night practice and one weekend game. The lone exception is our Boys Grades 10th through 12th division which does not have weekday practices. This division instead has one weekend game per week and multiple open gym sessions throughout the season.
Please note: To ensure fair and balanced teams, all intramural participants are evaluated via mandatory pre-season evaluations conducted by our commissioners and coaches. Teams are thereafter selected via a draft. Practices begin in December. Each division concludes mid-March with an in-house tournament where teams compete for trophies or medals.
