Rec Select Soccer
For intramural soccer players interested in a more competitive level of play
About the Program
The WRA Rec Select Soccer program is designed for players already registered in Intramural Soccer who are developmentally ready for the next level of play. Serving as a great transition for future travel players, its aim is to develop participants in a more competitive environment, offering weekly clinics, games, and tournaments that do not conflict with Intramural schedules.
Note: Players must still attend their Intramural team events. Travel players are not allowed to play on Rec Select teams. For questions or assistance, contact director Sean Ruhren.
Team Selection
Teams are organized by the Rec Select Committee. Friend requests are not honored. The selection of the teams is based on evaluations conducted during the beginning of fall clinics, as well as player commitment.
Teams will be divided into balanced teams with one team being the Select team for that age group. Players must be available for full day tournament play during certain fall weekends.
Teams participate in a Columbus Day weekend tournament held locally, as well as other tournaments in Lansdale, Upper Moreland, and Langhorne. These other tournaments will be played in October/November. Girls typically play tournaments on Saturdays, while boys typically play on Sundays.
Rec Select Soccer Divisions
Rec Select offers six divisions, U9 through U19. Basics can be found below.
U9 SOCCER
For soccer players under 9 years of age, U9 teams compete 7-on-7, with 12 max players per team.
U10 SOCCER
For soccer players under 10 years of age, U10 teams compete 7-on-7, with 12 max players per team.
U12 SOCCER
For soccer players under 12 years of age, U12 teams compete 9-on-9, with 16 max players per team.
U14 SOCCER
For soccer players under 14 years of age, U14 teams compete 11-on-11, with 22 max players per team.
U16 SOCCER
For soccer players under 16 years of age, U16 teams compete 11-on-11, with 22 max players per team.
U19 SOCCER
For soccer players under 19 years of age, U19 teams compete 11-on-11, with 22 max players per team.
Fall Select Invitational Tournament
Register your Select Team now for the 2023 WRA Fall Select Invitational, November 11th and 12th, at the Wissahickon High School and Middle School complex. This soccer invitational is open to boys & girls teams ages U8-U19, with first-place teams receiving trophies.
