Spring Softball Divisions

7U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 15U softball teams are formed each March, with games played between April and June. Wentz Run Park serves as the program’s primary home, with its upper and lower softball fields hosting practices and home games for all age divisions. Additional school fields in the Wissahickon School District are used as needed.

Note: Your daughter's age on January 1st will determine her "softball age" and division assignment. See descriptions below. Our online registration system, powered by TeamSnap, will automatically match your player with the proper division.

7U DIVISION

For girls born in 2017 and 2018, our 7U Division offers a fun, relaxed environment that lays the groundwork for what we hope will be a lifelong love of softball. Each week includes one weeknight practice and one Saturday game. Games feature coach pitch, with batting tees used as needed. All games are played in-house, and friend or teammate requests can be made during registration using the comments field.

8U DIVISION

For girls born in 2016, our 8U Division is designed to prepare players for their eventual transition to 10U, where pitching, strikeouts, and base-stealing are introduced. Each week includes one weeknight practice and one Saturday game. Games feature coach pitch, with batting tees used as needed, but will gradually introduce 10U elements (such as kid pitching) as the season progresses. All games are played in-house, and friend or teammate requests can be made during registration using the comments field.

10U DIVISION

For girls born in 2014 and 2015, our 10U Division introduces more advanced elements of the game. Each week includes one weeknight practice and one Saturday game, with the season concluding in an end-of-season tournament. Games feature kid pitching (from 35 feet) up to the fourth ball thrown outside the strike zone, after which coach pitch is used until the next batter. Inning limits are placed on the number of batters. Strikeouts are in play, and base-stealing from second to third is introduced. All games are played in-house.

BUXMONT 12U DIVISION

For girls born in 2012 and 2013, Whitpain Softball forms teams to compete in a recreational-level league made up of programs from the surrounding area, including Lenape Valley, Montgomery, Nor Gwyn, North Penn Valley, and more. Teams typically have one to two practices per week, along with one home game and one away game. The season concludes with an end-of-season tournament. Games feature kid pitching only (from 40 feet), with limitations on the number of batters per inning and the number of times home can be stolen.

INTERCOMMUNITY 15U DIVISION

For girls born in 2009, 2010, and 2011, Whitpain Softball forms teams to compete in a recreational-level league made up of programs from the surrounding area, including Abington, Ardsley, Cheltenham, Conshohocken, Norriton, Upper Dublin, and more. Teams typically have one to two practices per week, along with one home game and one away game. The season concludes with an end-of-season tournament. At the 15U level, all limitations are removed, and players experience the game in its truest form. Drop third strike, continuous walks, and the infield fly rule are introduced. Games feature kid pitching only (from 43 feet).

FUTURE SOFTBALLERS

For our youngest girls, ages 5-6, WRA offers the fast-moving Quickball Program. Quickball is a revolutionary program designed for girls and boys who are just beginning to explore the games of baseball and softball. Quickball makes the game more active and exciting to play and watch! Participants are always on the move with this fast-paced modern take on Tee-ball.
